Road Fighter
Road Fighter turns the simple pleasure of driving very fast into a compact arcade challenge. The objective is straightforward: race along the road, avoid obstacles and traffic, and try to maintain as much speed as possible without turning your vehicle into an expensive collection of spare parts. The controls are easy to understand, but maintaining a good pace requires concentration and quick reactions. Its retro presentation keeps the action clear and focused, making every approaching obstacle immediately important. There is no elaborate career mode or complicated vehicle management getting in the way; the road is right there, and you are expected to drive on it rather quickly. Road Fighter is therefore an ideal little game for short sessions and anyone who thinks braking is sometimes merely a suggestion.
“In 2003 the people from Retro Remakes organized a remake competition for the first time. The idea was to create a remake from scratch in a short amount of time. We decided to participate with a remake of the MSX game Road Fighter: a simple racing game that would be doable before the deadline and still be fun to play.” - Brain Games
