Major Stryker

Major Stryker is a classic Apogee space shooter that puts the player in control of a small spacecraft facing waves of hostile enemies. The action is firmly rooted in the arcade tradition, with fast movement, weapon upgrades, enemy formations and increasingly demanding stages. The story is secondary to the important business of shooting everything that moves, which is probably just as well because there are plenty of targets requiring attention. Its presentation reflects the late 1980s PC era, when developers could create surprisingly entertaining shooters without needing cinematic cutscenes or enormous installations. Major Stryker is straightforward, energetic and pleasantly old-fashioned, making it a nice snapshot of the shareware tradition that helped establish Apogee as a major name in PC gaming.
