Kingdom of Loathing

Kingdom of Loathing is a wonderfully strange browser RPG that turns traditional fantasy conventions into an endless supply of jokes. Created by Asymmetric Publications, it uses deliberately crude stick-figure graphics while offering a surprisingly deep mixture of combat, quests, classes, equipment and character development. The humor is everywhere, from ridiculous enemies and item descriptions to deliberately nonsensical fantasy situations. Beneath the comedy is a substantial RPG system, with different classes and strategies encouraging experimentation. Its minimalist presentation is actually one of its greatest strengths, because the game never pretends to be something it is not. If you enjoy role-playing games but think they could use more sarcasm, absurd food items and badly drawn adventurers, Kingdom of Loathing is an exceptionally entertaining cure for fantasy seriousness.
