Kingdom of Kroz

Kingdom of Kroz is a classic top-down adventure from Apogee that combines exploration, treasure hunting and puzzle-solving with the kind of hazards that make every unexplored corridor suspicious. As an early entry in the Kroz series, it helped establish the simple but addictive formula of navigating dangerous environments, collecting treasures and figuring out how to survive increasingly tricky situations. The graphics are unmistakably from the early PC era, but the gameplay remains easy to understand and surprisingly engaging. Players must think about movement and resources rather than simply charging forward, because the wrong decision can quickly leave them trapped. Kingdom of Kroz is a fine example of the shareware tradition: modest technology, clever mechanics and enough challenge to make you swear that the next attempt will definitely go better.
