Waterdeep

Waterdeep is a fan-developed game inspired by the famous Dungeons & Dragons setting and the city of Waterdeep, one of the best-known locations in the Forgotten Realms. The project offers players an opportunity to explore a fantasy environment filled with adventuring, characters and the sort of trouble that inevitably follows when a group of armed heroes enters a tavern. Its community-driven nature gives the game a distinctly independent character, with the focus placed on creating an enjoyable fantasy adventure rather than delivering a blockbuster production. Fans of tabletop-inspired computer RPGs may appreciate its familiar setting and atmosphere. It is an interesting example of how enthusiastic communities can keep classic fantasy worlds alive through their own projects, long after the original rulebooks have acquired a respectable layer of dust.
