Triangle Wizard

Triangle Wizard is a compact action game with a wonderfully straightforward premise: take a wizard, give him magical abilities, and then throw him into a world containing things that would rather he stopped moving. The game combines platforming, combat, and spell-based action, requiring players to move carefully while dealing with enemies and environmental obstacles. Its independent design keeps the presentation simple, allowing the gameplay to take center stage. There is a pleasing old-school quality to the experience, with challenges that encourage learning patterns and improving through repeated attempts rather than simply overwhelming everything with statistics. Triangle Wizard is small, quirky, and suitably magical, offering an uncomplicated adventure for anyone who thinks that most problems can probably be solved with the correct application of a fireball.

“Triangle Wizard is a real-time roguelikelike. It combines an ASCII character art-style with vector graphics and nice magical effects. The gameplay reminds one of Diablo, especially the first one, but is a lot less forgiving, and contains many more random elements. Two major things it retains from Diablo 1 are the shrines which, like in Diablo, can permanently change your character (sometimes in a bad way), and the random item generation based on prefixes and suffixes along with socketed items and unique items” - Wouter van den Wollenberg
