River Raid

River Raid is a fast-paced vertical scrolling shooter that puts you in control of an aircraft flying continuously over a dangerous landscape. Enemies, obstacles and targets appear along the route, requiring quick reactions and accurate shooting while you try to keep the aircraft alive. The basic formula is wonderfully straightforward: fly, shoot, avoid trouble and keep going for as long as possible. That simplicity gives the game an arcade-like quality, making it easy to understand but surprisingly demanding once the action becomes hectic. There is little room for relaxing sightseeing when enemy aircraft and ground targets are competing for your attention. River Raid is a compact dose of retro shooting action for anyone who enjoys games where surviving another few seconds feels like a genuine achievement.
