Popcorn

Popcorn is an arcade-style brick-breaking game from Lacral Software, following the timeless tradition established by Breakout and Arkanoid. Players control a paddle at the bottom of the screen and bounce a ball into arrangements of blocks, gradually clearing the playfield while trying not to lose control of the ball. The concept is almost absurdly simple, yet the combination of increasing speed, tricky angles and limited mistakes remains surprisingly addictive. Its 1988 origins give it plenty of retro charm, especially for players interested in early home-computer arcade games. There is something wonderfully uncomplicated about the formula: a paddle, a ball and a wall of bricks. No character statistics, no crafting system and absolutely no need to collect twelve varieties of magical mushrooms.
