Pixelships
Pixelships is a compact arcade space game from Kris Asick that puts you behind the controls of a small spacecraft and fills the screen with enemy ships and incoming fire. The gameplay focuses on movement, shooting and surviving increasingly dangerous encounters, with the minimalist visual style allowing the action to remain clear even when things become busy. Its straightforward design makes it easy to start playing immediately, while the increasing challenge encourages repeated attempts and gradual improvement. There is a pleasing purity to the concept: fly, shoot, dodge and try not to become another glowing fragment of spaceship. For fans of small freeware arcade games, Pixelships offers a concise dose of space combat without requiring a long tutorial or an enormous commitment of time.
“PixelShips is a 2D shooter with randomly generated levels and missions. You create a character then select one of thousands of randomly structured campaigns, each consisting of 10 missions of increasing difficulty. The greater the campaign number, the more difficult it will be yet the more points you will score and the more likely you will find rare PixelShips.” - Kris Asick
