Manic Digger
Manic Digger is a voxel-based sandbox game inspired by the block-building freedom popularized by Minecraft, allowing players to explore, dig, build and reshape the environment. Its open-ended nature means there is no single correct way to play: you can concentrate on construction, exploration or simply spend an unreasonable amount of time removing blocks because the game makes it oddly satisfying. The voxel world gives everything a chunky retro appearance, while the sandbox mechanics encourage experimentation. As an independent project, it is particularly interesting as part of the early wave of games exploring the possibilities of procedurally generated block worlds. If you enjoy building things from cubes, Manic Digger provides plenty of opportunities to become the local architect.
