Hurrican

Hurrican is a fast-paced run-and-gun platformer heavily inspired by classic games such as Turrican, but presented with modern freeware ambitions. Players blast their way through large levels packed with enemies, obstacles, secrets and plenty of ammunition, while the character's movement and weaponry encourage constant forward momentum. The game understands the appeal of old-school action: simple objectives, responsive controls, increasingly dangerous enemies and enough explosions to make subtlety completely unnecessary. Its graphics and effects give the classic formula a more contemporary appearance without losing the arcade spirit underneath. If you miss the days when platform heroes solved problems primarily by shooting them, Hurrican is an excellent trip back to that wonderfully uncomplicated philosophy.
