Egoboo

Egoboo is a free open-source action RPG that combines dungeon exploration, colorful characters and a generous helping of old-school computer-game charm. Players venture through different levels, fight enemies, collect equipment and search for treasure while developing their characters along the way. Originally started in the late 1990s, the project has continued through years of community development, making it something of a survivor in the world of independent freeware games. Its gameplay recalls classic dungeon-crawling adventures without taking itself too seriously, and the whimsical presentation gives the whole experience a distinctive personality. First released in 1999, Egoboo may look modest by modern standards, but beneath the simple graphics lies an entertaining RPG playground with enough monsters, loot and strange situations to keep explorers busy.
