RIFT is a fantasy MMORPG built around large-scale online adventures, character development and a world where players can choose from different classes and play styles. Its distinctive feature is the appearance of mysterious planar rifts, dynamic events that can disrupt the world and encourage players to cooperate against invading forces. Beyond these events, there is plenty of familiar MMO material: quests, exploration, equipment, dungeons, crafting and battles against increasingly dangerous enemies. The game aims to give players considerable freedom in developing their characters, allowing different abilities and roles to be combined in various ways. Like any sprawling MMORPG, it can happily consume more time than originally intended. You may log in for a quick quest and emerge several hours later wondering what happened to the evening.
