NetWars

NetWars is a networked space-combat game associated with Novell, giving players the chance to battle spacecraft in an era when online multiplayer often meant connecting machines that were sitting in the same office. The premise is simple but effective: pilot your ship, maneuver around opponents and try to turn their spacecraft into debris before they do the same to you. Its roots in early network gaming give it considerable historical charm, especially for anyone interested in how multiplayer computer games evolved before modern internet infrastructure made online competition routine. The graphics are understandably primitive by today's standards, but the core appeal is timeless. Point spacecraft at other spacecraft, fire weapons and discover that your colleague takes losing surprisingly personally.
