Best free "fighting games" games

GAME GENRE – Fighting games are action games centered around close-quarters combat, usually pitting two characters against each other in fast and often spectacular battles. Players rely on a mixture of punches, kicks, special moves, combos, blocks, and well-timed attacks to defeat their opponent, with each character typically having a different fighting style and set of abilities. Matches are usually short and intense, making these games easy to pick up but surprisingly difficult to master. The genre became hugely popular in arcades during the 1980s and 1990s and has remained a staple of gaming ever since.
