TV Sports: Basketball

TV Sports: Basketball brings basketball to the computer with Cinemaware's trademark attempt to recreate the excitement and atmosphere of a televised sporting event. Players control a team during fast-paced matches, managing offense and defense while trying to outscore their opponents. The game combines arcade-style action with enough tactical detail to make team play important, requiring players to think about passing, positioning, shooting, and defensive pressure. Its presentation gives the game a distinct early-1990s sports feel, when developers were still experimenting with ways to make computer games resemble television broadcasts. TV Sports: Basketball may look primitive today, but its focus on presentation and accessible gameplay helped demonstrate how much personality could be squeezed into a sports simulation. Just remember: blaming the referee is still allowed.
