The Curse of Issyos

The Curse of Issyos is a retro-inspired action platformer from Locomalito, heavily influenced by classic 8-bit and 16-bit adventure games. Players control a Greek warrior exploring an island filled with monsters, traps, bosses and mythological dangers while searching for answers and fighting through interconnected areas. Combat is straightforward but demanding, while exploration and discovering new abilities gradually open previously inaccessible locations. The game deliberately recreates the atmosphere of older console adventures, with pixel art, chiptune-style music and a structure that rewards remembering where obstacles and secrets are located. The Curse of Issyos feels like a lost cartridge from an alternate history of gaming, complete with the traditional expectation that the player will probably get defeated by a boss several times before finally understanding what they were supposed to do.
