Residentvania

Residentvania combines the survival-horror atmosphere of Resident Evil with the exploration and combat traditions of classic Metroidvania games. The result is a deliberately compact mixture of creepy environments, dangerous enemies, exploration and backtracking. Instead of simply moving from one room to the next, you gradually learn the layout of the world and discover new ways to reach previously inaccessible areas. The retro presentation reinforces the old-school feeling, while the horror influences add a little extra tension to the familiar exploration formula. It is a neat example of how two recognizable genres can be blended into something that feels familiar without being entirely predictable. If you enjoy haunted corridors, locked doors and the nagging suspicion that something unpleasant is waiting around the next corner, Residentvania should feel comfortably uncomfortable.
