Maximus Action Carnage wastes very little time explaining itself. This is a fast, deliberately over-the-top action game where the name pretty much doubles as the mission statement. Enemies arrive, things explode, and Maximus is expected to keep moving rather than stopping for a quiet cup of tea. The gameplay puts the emphasis firmly on reflexes, shooting and surviving increasingly hectic encounters, with a presentation that embraces its arcade roots instead of pretending to be a serious military simulation. It has the sort of straightforward appeal that works particularly well when you only have twenty minutes to spare.
