Mario Bros VGA

Mario Bros VGA is a fan-made PC interpretation of the classic Mario Bros. arcade game, bringing the famous plumber and his increasingly troublesome collection of turtles, crabs and other creatures to VGA-era computers. The core concept remains wonderfully simple: enter a screen, defeat the enemies, collect points and try not to get knocked into oblivion. The VGA presentation gives the familiar formula a more colorful appearance while preserving the straightforward arcade structure. It is an interesting snapshot of the period when PC hobbyists regularly recreated console and arcade favorites for home computers. Mario Bros VGA may not replace the original, but it provides a charming example of how enthusiast developers kept beloved arcade ideas alive on platforms that were never their natural habitat.
