Best free "NES remake" games

Originally released in Japan as the Famicom and launched in North America as the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, the NES became one of the most important consoles of the 8-bit era. It helped rebuild confidence in the home video game market after the crash of 1983 and introduced millions of players to Nintendo's distinctive style of gaming. Its simple controller, featuring the now-iconic D-pad, became a template for countless consoles that followed. The NES library was packed with memorable platformers, action games, adventures, RPGs, and arcade-style titles, many of which remain classics today. With more than 60 million units sold worldwide, the system established Nintendo as a major force in the industry. Its colorful graphics and unmistakable chiptune sound also helped define what many people still think of as the classic console experience.
