Except, of course, it was also a free-to-play MMO, which meant plenty of grinding, waiting, and wallet temptation. Still, for a time, it was magical—space battles looked great, the factions were lively, and the thrill of flying under the banner of humanity (or shiny chrome toaster overlords) never got old. The servers are gone now, but for those who played, it was like stepping straight into the series. So say we all.
