Discover free MS-DOS remake games developed for the "Solaris" operating system sorted by release date.
Released by Microsoft in 1981, MS-DOS became the standard operating system for IBM PCs and compatibles throughout much of the 1980s and early 1990s. Its text-based interface required users to type commands rather than clicking their way through menus, making even simple tasks feel like they required a small degree in computer science. Despite its austere appearance, MS-DOS became home to an enormous library of software, including thousands of classic games covering almost every genre imaginable. Adventures, RPGs, strategy games, simulators, and action titles all flourished on the platform, helping establish the PC as a serious gaming machine. MS-DOS eventually gave way to graphical operating systems such as Windows, but its legacy remains strong among retro gamers and enthusiasts. For many classic PC games, that blinking command prompt was where the fun began.
