The ZX Spectrum, launched in 1982 by Sinclair Research in the UK, was a pioneering 8-bit home computer that helped spark the European gaming boom. Compact and affordable, it featured a Zilog Z80 processor, up to 48 KB of RAM, and its distinctive rubber-keyed keyboard. Its limited color palette and quirky graphics became iconic, as did the screeching sounds of games loading from cassette tapes.
