Kye
Kye is a classic puzzle game from Colin Garbutt built around a simple but increasingly demanding concept: guide a small creature through hazardous levels while collecting objects and figuring out how to reach the exit. Its early-1990s presentation is straightforward, but the puzzles rely on careful movement and planning rather than flashy graphics. As the levels become more complicated, the game starts asking players to think several moves ahead and avoid traps that initially look harmless. It is exactly the kind of old-school puzzle experience where one tiny mistake can force you to restart and immediately reconsider every decision you made during the previous attempt. Kye may be simple by modern standards, but its clean mechanics and escalating challenge give it the enduring charm of a well-designed retro puzzle game.
“Kye is an action-puzzle game. Kye (the green sprite) must collect the blue diamonds without getting stuck or eaten by monsters. There are many different items in the game; Kye can push some and, under certain circumstances, pull them.” - Colin Garbutt
