GAME GENRE – Turn-based tactics games are all about making the right decision before the other side gets a chance to ruin your carefully prepared plan. Players take turns controlling groups of soldiers, characters, vehicles, or other units, with every action requiring a little thought and usually a surprising amount of patience. Movement, positioning, resources, special abilities, and the terrain can all make the difference between a brilliant victory and watching your entire squad get wiped out because you moved one character two squares too far. Objectives can range from defeating enemy forces to capturing locations, protecting units, or completing specific missions. Unlike fast-paced action games, turn-based tactics give you time to consider your options—but that doesn't necessarily make your decisions any better. Sometimes you simply have more time to make a spectacular mistake.
